As the 1CORE project approaches its conclusion, this event will offer a dynamic opportunity to reflect on its main achievements, lessons learned and lasting contribution to the development of the 4EU+ European University Alliance.
Designed in a moderated, talk-show-inspired format, the event will move away from traditional project presentations. Instead, each thematic session will bring together several voices from across the Alliance, with the moderator guiding the conversation through short interviews, targeted questions and exchanges between speakers. The aim is to create an engaging and accessible discussion around the concrete changes generated by 1CORE.
Combining concrete examples, personal reflections and different perspectives from across the Alliance, the event will tell the story of 1CORE not simply through what was delivered, but through the people, practices and structures that will continue shaping 4EU+ beyond the lifetime of the project.
Welcome and introduction to the event (10 minutes)

Session I - Building the capacity to deliver joint and innovative education (30 minutes)
1CORE set out to strengthen the capacity of 4EU+ universities to deliver a sustainable joint educational offer, combining student-centred approaches, innovative pedagogies and shared processes for educational cooperation. This ambition included establishing the Centre for Innovative and Digital Teaching and Learning, guidance and practical tools for joint programme development, and piloting and further developing the Alliance’s existing educational quality management system.
This session examines how these complementary approaches have supported teachers and programme teams in designing, implementing and improving joint education. It explores how pedagogical support can encourage innovation and student involvement in co-creation, how guidelines and tools help teams navigate institutional requirements, and how quality evidence informs improvements. Drawing on concrete examples from 1CORE, the discussion will assess progress, identify remaining difficulties and highlight practical priorities for embedding joint educational activities into regular university provision.

Session II - From universities to society: how did 1CORE create value beyond the Alliance? (30 minutes)
1CORE set out to strengthen the relationship between universities and society by connecting research-based education with societal challenges, developing transversal skills, extending lifelong learning opportunities and supporting engagement with external stakeholders.
This session examines what these commitments have made possible in practice. It brings together three connected perspectives: preparing students to apply their knowledge in professional and civic life; making university expertise accessible to learners and communities beyond regular degree programmes; and developing partnerships in which external actors contribute to shaping activities and benefit from the cooperation.
Through concrete examples, the speakers will discuss what 1CORE helped change, what cooperation across universities added, and where further work is needed. The discussion will identify practical priorities for turning the approaches developed through the project into sustained relationships and opportunities beyond the Alliance.

Session III - Building one 4EU+ community: mobility, people and participation (25 minutes)
A European University becomes a community when people can access its opportunities, connect across institutional boundaries and develop ways of working together that continue beyond individual activities. 1CORE sought to broaden participation in mobility, strengthen the visibility and engagement of doctoral candidates, and foster a shared working culture among university staff through exchange, capacity building and the sharing of practices.
This session examines what changed during the project for students, PhD candidates and university staff. It asks how opportunities for participation become lasting academic and professional connections, which barriers remain, and which practices 4EU+ should carry forward after 1CORE.

Session IV - From project results to permanent Alliance structures (35 minutes)
1CORE set out to support the long-term development of 4EU+ through shared digital services, common approaches to data management, sustainable governance and communication that involves the Alliance community. As the project concludes, the question is how these results can remain useful, accessible and supported in everyday Alliance work.
This session brings together the Student Portal, the Data Management Plan and wider WP5 activities, governance and sustainability work under WP6, and communication, Student Ambassadors and Annual Meeting feedback. The speakers will examine what 1CORE helped develop, what experience of implementation has taught the universities and the Alliance, and what is needed to sustain the work beyond the project.
Through concrete examples, the discussion will address responsibility for maintaining services and tools, coordination between Alliance and university teams, resources and support, and the use of community feedback. It will identify practical priorities for embedding project results in lasting structures and routines, while recognising where adoption or implementation still needs further work.
